2026-27 Opportunity Grants

The second application period for 2026-27 Opportunity Grants is open through 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, 2026, subject to available funds.

Oly Ed Foundation Opportunity Grants help Olympia School District staff create opportunities and provide resources that benefit OSD students. Grants of up to $2,000 are available to OSD employees who work directly with students.

For 2026-27, Student & Community Wellbeing requests are considered through the Opportunity Grant process. PTOs/PTAs and other school-based parent organizations may partner with an eligible OSD employee, who must serve as the primary applicant.

Browsers Books Grants of up to $500 are also available through the same application.

  1. How to Complete Requests & Reports

    1. Review the 2026-27 Grants Guidelines.
    2. Complete and submit the Opportunity Grant application.
    3. If funded, submit a Post-Grant Report within 30 days of project completion or by the final week of the school year, whichever comes first.

    Applications are reviewed up to two times during the school year, subject to available funds.

Opportunity Grants

Opportunity Grants support projects, experiences, activities, materials and resources that enhance student learning, remove barriers to participation or success, and meet needs not otherwise covered by district or school budgets.

Requests may be made for up to $2,000. The same application is used for general Opportunity Grants, Student & Community Wellbeing requests, and Browsers Books Grants.

Browsers Books Grants

Browsers Bookshop provides 10 grants of up to $500 each to help establish or build classroom and school libraries. Books must be purchased through Browsers Bookshop, which provides educators a 20% discount. Apply using the Opportunity Grant application.

FAQ

  • Opportunity Grants are open to all Olympia School District staff who work directly with OSD students. This includes, but is not limited to, teachers, specialists, paraeducators, counselors, nurses and principals.

    Student Well-Being Grants support counselors, social workers, behavior technicians, and restorative justice centers by funding materials and the development of programs that specifically address social/emotional learning and mental health.

  • Grant Requests in all but the Browsers Books Grants are eligible for funding of up to $2,000.

    Browsers Books Grants are up to $500 each.

  • At this time, we are not accepting Grant Requests for professional development.

    You may instead consider: 1) seeking opportunities through Individual Professional Growth Grants (IPGG), which are available to active members of the Olympia Education Association; 2) contacting a building administrator or representative about whether there is a budget for professional development available through your respective department, PTO, or building budget; 3) contacting your respective department head at the district regarding potential funding; or 4) using resources available to you through your negotiated contract.
